When?
October 27th - 28th

Where?
The 2012 Halloween Party will be at Yakurai cabins.

How much?
5,000 yen, including accommodation and bedding.

Getting There

Public Transport
The site is accessible by bus from Sendai station. A MAJET rep will meet people that wish to catch the bus from Sendai station at the at the stained glass window at 12:30pm. The bus leaves at 13:00. After the bus it is necessary to be picked up by the site’s driver, which has been prearranged by MAJET. If you want to come later than this we advise prearranging a lift, or asking someone you know that will be driving to the site to pick you up from the bus drop off.

Whilst this is a little early, it's a great chance to bag a good bed and hit the onsen! You could also hit up the excellent brewery next to the site… or add the finishing touches to your halloween outfit!

Driving
The site is located here:

This is the address of the sire should you want to print a map:

Cool! What's happening?
This year our ghoulish revelry will take place at the Yakurai Cottages on Saturday October 27th. There will be a costume contest, with great prizes! The idea is to have a Halloween party up in the hills. One cabin will be opened up as a party cabin, with music and spooky films. It will be the perfect combination of house party and sleepover!

What's a Yakurai?
Yakurai is a campsite up in the pretty mountains. Located on a wasabi farm (the spookiest of vegetables), MAJET have rented us some haunted cottages, complete with equipped kitchens, bathrooms and tatami rooms.

If you care to arrive earlier on Saturday, the site also has a good onsen, which is 500 yen. There is a brewery next door to the campsite, with a restaurant that serves their beer. Whilst it is not very spooky, there is also an organic vegetable shop on site.

How's this party going to work?

MAJET needs your help to party!
This year, we will have a big emphasis on you guys! Power to the people!   - This year we would love it if everyone could suggest songs for the playlist - that way everyone gets to hear a bit of what they want. - We want you lot to judge the costume contest! We will be bringing audience vote forms with us. - We would like to get you guys to bring food and cook together - this year we thought it would be nice for MAJET to provide some grills and some fuel and let people cook what they want - feel free to share (or not!), and let's cook and eat together!

Sorry, what was that about food?
This year MAJET plans to do a communal meal in the evening, where people can cook and eat together. We will provide grills and fuel, you bring your own food to cook on the fires. if you want to bring things to share, be our guest! If you want to team up with a few friends and cater for yourselves, all good too! The kitchens are equipped with rice cookers, pans and utensils, so should there be rain, we're safe, and if you need to use a microwave, grill or fridge you are safe too!

MAJET will also be attempting an imonikai -
We will try to make a super sized batch of Miyagi style potato soup to share around! For the unitiated - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imoni

What should I bring?

  • Your own booze!
  • Cooking utensils and facilities are available in the cabins, so you wont need anything for this.
  • Bedding is provided too, so no need for sleeping bags!
  • Your finest Halloween outfit!

What will this cost?

The cost of the trip is 5,000 yen, payable to MAJET on arrival. This covers the cost of accommodation, fuel for the cooking fires and bedding.

A Quick Disclaimer
The cut off date for this event to RSVP is 15th of October. If you wish to drop out after this date, you may have to pay cancellation fees, or find someone to go in your place.

We are always happy to help! However, we (the comittee members) pay the same as you to come, and are on holiday too. We don't get paid, or any special treatment. Please consider this if there's anything you want to take up with us on the weekend.
