It's that time of year again. Yes, winter is coming. The time when most ALTs can be found hibernating inside of their respective Kotatsus.
Winter also means the Snow Festival in Sapporo, Hokkaido. MAJET annually hosts a trip to Sapporo for the festival. The time to sign up for the trip is upon us. So please check out our Sapporo Snow Festival page to get all the details on how to secure your place on this wonderful trip.
Keep in mind that the deadline to sign up, and pay your deposit, is December 28th. So if you are planning to head home for Christmas, it is advisable to take care of the sign up before hand.
Hello all! I hope you’re well.
We had a cracking time at Yakurai for Halloween, and decided we should carry the MAJET fun into November. So this month we have a real treat; a double whammy of events in fact! We have a used clothes swap, and a pub quiz. Awesome!
Please feel free to make a day of it! The food at Waterr is excellent, as is the beer, or there are plenty of places to catch lunch/dinner in the area. Bar Waterr is here -http://goo.gl/maps/C3i7z
Please RSVP using our form, that can be found here.
After the last, immensely successful venture, the clothes swap has returned. Come and grab free stuff, drop off some preloved (and prewashed…) clothing, and pick up some new goodies for the season. I can’t recommend this event enough, it’s a great chance to try on some goodies, and hang out. Anyone is welcome – that includes non-JETs, JTES, spouses, passers-by… and you don’t need to bring something – you are welcome to turn up and just take some new threads. An email has been forwarded to you with further details from the people organizing it, feel free to get in touch with them for any questions.
When - Saturday, 17 November, 3pm-5pm
Where - Bar Waterr
Bring - Clothes that are still in good condition, freshly washed and ironed. Accessories and shoes are welcome too!
Take - Free clothes!

The new MAJET committee is currently working on updating this site, and we need your help! The most important part you can help us with is in updating our Miyagi Guide. Please check the guide on your area, let us know if there are any modifications you can make. If we do not currently have a guide on your area, please let us know if you would be so kind as to make one.
We also are looking for any photos you have to add to our slideshow. So please send us any shots you have, especially if it has been taken somewhere in Miyagi, or at a MAJET event.
Photos and guide modifications may be sent to email@example.com.
This years Bandai event will take place on 15th,16th and 17th of September - more information to follow!

For those of you that don't know:
Lake Bandai is a beautiful spot under the shadow of Mt. Bandai, a dormant volcano. We will be staying in wooden cabins down by the lake and have full access to the site's bikes, kayaks, table tennis table, barbeques and sentou.
For adventurers amongst you, if the weather is favourable Mt Bandai offers a challenging hike, the lake has a great cycling route around it and there are small islands that can be swum/kayaked to.
Those of you fancying a slightly gentler experience can visit the 5 coloured lakes, or view one of the world's largest collections of Dali sculture and paintings in a custom built gallery near by.
And those of you wanting a totally sedentary experience can just relax by the lake admiring the view! I often find this experience is enhanced by the presence of a cold Asahi,...
Text doesn't totally do the Bandai trip justice, so if you really want to know what Bandai is like try asking someone that has been - because BANDAI IS AWESOME!See More
As some of you may know, the family of Taylor Anderson, the Ishinomaki JET who was lost in the Great East Japan Earthquake, have contributed "Taylor Anderson Reading Corners" to the 7 schools at which Taylor taught. These corners, including beautifully carved wood shelves constructed by the father of 3 of Taylor's students, provide a comfortable place for kids to relax and read during lunch and after school. In addition to the corners, the Andersons have donated both English and Japanese children's books to encourage kids to explore the world of reading. Unfortunately, the English children's books (classics such as the Magic School Bus, the Cat in the Hat, etc) are a bit too high for Elementary School English levels. The kids say they love looking at the books because the drawings are so different from Japanese drawing styles, but still, they wish they could understand the meaning.
