October 25-26, 2013

Where?
The Yakurai Cottages in Kami Town

3,500 yen
(this covers accommodation, bedding, and fuel for the cooking fires)

As we emphasize every time, joining the Facebook event does not count as RSVP-ing!!!

Getting There

Public Transport
The site is accessible by bus from Sendai station. A MAJET rep will meet people that wish to catch the bus from Sendai station at the stained glass window at 17:30 (departure time of 18:00). The bus ride is about 1.5 hrs long (1200 yen), so you can start your spooky story telling a bit early!
After the bus, it is necessary to be picked up by the site’s driver, which will be prearranged by MAJET.

If you want to come earlier/later than this, we advise prearranging a lift, or asking someone you know that will be driving to the site to pick you up from the bus drop off.

Though we are starting things a bit late on Friday night, consider hitting up the onsen the next day (provided you are in good condition)! You could also hit up the excellent brewery next to the site.

Driving
The site is located here:

What's happening??
This year our Halloween festivities will take place at the Yakurai Cottages on Friday, October 25th. There will be a costume contest and a pumpkin (most likely kabocha) carving contest, both with great prizes! The idea is to have a Halloween party up in the hills. One cabin will be opened up as a party cabin, with music (90's dance party!) and spooky films. It will be the perfect combination of house party and sleepover!

Yakurai??
Yakurai is a campsite up in the pretty mountains. Located on a wasabi farm (the spookiest of vegetables), MAJET have rented us some haunted cottages, complete with equipped kitchens, bathrooms and tatami rooms.

Check-out is at 10 a.m. on Saturday, but if you care to stay around the area, the site also has a good onsen, which is 500 yen. There is a brewery next door to the campsite, with a restaurant that serves their beer. Whilst it is not very spooky, there is also an organic vegetable shop on site.

How's this party going to work??

MAJET needs your help to party!
Help us help you.
  • Know the perfect 90's chart toppers (or not so much) to whip out some groovy moves to?
Let us know and we'll put it on the playlist!
  • Know a really awesome spooky story that will rob everyone of their sleep?
Tell it by the fireplace! (If a fireplace is available.)
  • Have a really scary movie that will have the same effect?
Bring it with!
  • Think you're the expert on what's hot and what's not?
Help us judge the costume contest!
And of course, don't forget to dress in your finest Halloween garb as well to get judged by others in return.
  • Want to show off your skills with a knife and carving tools?
Carve some pumpkins! (No human torture allowed at the party.)

Sorry, what was that about food?
This year MAJET plans to do a communal meal in the evening, where people can cook and eat together. We will provide grills and fuel, you bring your own food to cook on the fires. if you want to bring things to share, be our guest! If you want to team up with a few friends and cater for yourselves, all good too! The kitchens are equipped with rice cookers, pans and utensils, so should there be rain, we're safe, and if you need to use a microwave, grill or fridge, you are safe too!

What should I bring?
  • 3,500 yen
  • Your own booze!
  • Grilling food for youself and/or to share
  • Pumpkin-carving skills and/or dancing skills and/or your deepest, darkest, scariest ghost stories to tell
  • Your finest Halloween outfit!!!

What should I not bring?
  • Cooking utensils and facilities are available in the cabins, so you wont need anything for this.
  • Bedding is also provided (yay), so leave your tents and sleeping bags at home!
A Quick Disclaimer
