Official MAJET Teaching Resource List
Lesson Plans and Classroom Activities:
Teaching Activities
Several useful activities for teaching English.
ALTopedia
General website full of activities and games by ALTs for ALTs.
ALTWikia
Similar to the above, though the lesson plans mostly deal with the Hi, Friends! textbook.
Eigo Ganbare
Website full of everything from lesson plans to listening activities.
Popjisho
Great resource for students to study/learn English on the internet. Students can roll over English on the site and it will display the Japanese meaning in a little pop-up window. Great for assignments or self-study.
AcessJ
For our upper level JETs; focusing on JHS and SHS, with all kinds of resources related to both. NOTE: The website is no longer updated much, and navigation can be a bit of a pain.
Lanternfish
Another all-round website, though also having plenty of JHS/SHS content. Made by a group of ESL teachers in South Korea.
Japan Teaching Resources
A Facebook page dedicated to all kinds of teaching resources in Japan.
Three Wise Monkies
Website by former Tochigi ALTs which contains different games and activites for children.
TESL Information:
Internet TESL Journal
Another defunct yet still online website. Features many journal posts, a few lessons, but most helpful are likely to be the articles and "Techniques" sections.
Japan Association of Language Teaching
JALT is one of a few organisations in Japan aimed at helping secondary language teachers improve themselves. While the latest journal issues require membership, past ones do not.
British Council ALT Handbook
Official handbook created by the British government's English language arm to help ALTs with their teaching ability.
Planet Eigo
A publication put out by AJET, going over much of the same topics as the British Council's handbook, though with the added benefits of having lesson plans and activities added as appendices.
