Misato

美里

At a Glance

Misato is a small town in Miyagi which largely follows the course of the Naruse river as it meanders towards the coastline. It's another recently made town, formed through the merger of the two villages, Kogota and Nango. Famous for its cattle, rice, and sake, Misato truly does represent its name (beautiful village).

The area has been settled since the late Jomon period, and has a number of ruins and archaeological sites located throughout. It also a major rail interchange, with the Ishinomaki and Rikuu East Lines starting here.
