Kenpoku literally translates to "prefecture in the north". However, the cities are so large and spread apart you'll rarely hear it referred as "Kenpoku" and more by the respective cities' names. 
Northern Miyagi  is a vast mysterious land filled with mountains, rice fields, and all kinds of wildlife - from pheasant to bear, and even tanuki!

 The biggest city in terms of population in Northern Miyagi would be Osaki with a population of around 128,00 people. For comparison, Sendai's population has just over 1,000,000 people. 

Northern Miyagi has a lot to offer in natural beauty and hiking trails. As a matter of fact, there are two of three Olle Hiking trails that Miyagi has! During spring there are a lot of idyllic spots for cherry blossom viewing as well! The Tohoku Food Marathon is also held in Tome City in April where MAJET often signs up!
