MAJET Hanami 2016

Picture
SPRING IS COMING.

You have survived. As ALTs across the country emerge from their kotatsus, wiping sembei crumbs from their clothes and blinking their eyes in the spring light, it becomes clear that finally, the season has changed.

Spring officially springs in Japan when the cherry blossoms arrive, at which point there is a frenzy of partying as everyone with a tarpaulin and a highball sets up in the park for a flower viewing (hanami or 花見) party. Far from being an event of reserved Zen calm, hanami is often an exciting and bustling event, with food, and booze being shared among friends, families and co-workers.

To celebrate Hanami, MAJET will be hosting a Hanami party! The event will be held in Ogawara, famous for its Thousand Sakura Trees!

We are aiming to host it on April 9th at around noon, although this can change depending on the weather.

This event costs nothing! Bring your own food and beer, with the spirit of sharing in mind. You might want a tarpaulin to sit on, and some weather appropriate clothes.

BUT WHAT IF IT RAINS/THERE ARE NO FLOWERS?

Don’t panic. We will do our best to tell you the day before whether hanami is happening or not. In the event of bad weather, we will organize an alternative event, however, it may be a different time and meeting space, so check your emails/texts before leaving the house!
