2017 Mt. Kurikoma Climb

9/29/2017

When: October 22 (Sun.); Arrival time: 10:30am

Where: Kurikoma Quasi-National Park, the very northwest of Miyagi Prefecture

How much: We do not charge for our professional guide services, but ask that those who will be carpooling contribute some money to their kind drivers.

How should I get there?
For those who cannot drive themselves there, we will be arranging carpools from the nearest train station! (Which is still a considerable 1+ hour drive away - bonding time!)
What should I bring?
Mount Kurikoma is not an extremely rigorous climb, so you will not need hardcore climbing gear. The essentials, however, include:
  • Comfortable layered clothing
  • Comfortable (hiking) shoes
  • Extra pair of socks, just in case
  • Water
  • Mountain climbing-appropriate food
  • Sunscreeeen

Come climb Mount Kurikoma with us on a (hopefully) beautiful Saturday morning/afternoon!

Part of the Ou Mountains at the very northwest part of Miyagi Prefecture, Mount Kurikoma is actually shared by Miyagi, Akita, and Iwate Prefectures. At a summit height of 1626 m, it takes about 2 hours to climb up the mountain (remember that you have to go down as well), so we will be aiming to start at about noon!
On the way back, you can relax at a local onsen, or if you must, we will not be offended if you move on to your Sunday night plans!
Sign me up!
Please fill out the form below to officially RSVP for the event. Joining the FB event does not count as officially RSVPing! Deadline for sign-up is Friday, October 15(midnight).
