Niigata Basketball Tournament

There's a basketball tournament coming up in Niigata. MAJET is looking to bring a team down. We'll probably be coming down on October 12th, a day before the games start, because of the long drive. Please email MAJET (miyagi@ajet.net) if you are interested. We especially need females to join (one must be on the floor at all times). Carpooling will be available and a first come first serve basis.

WHO: ALTs, Japanese locals, anyone! Nation-wide recruitment!
WHAT: Epic basketball, epic drinking, epic hot springs, epic internationalizing!
WHERE: Beautiful Matsunoyama in Niigata prefecture (Gym, Ryokan reserved all for ourselves, Awesome hot springs)
WHEN: 10/13-10/14

TOURNAMENT FORMAT:
Day 1 - EPIC Throwdown for EPIC bragging rights with your team for the EPIC trophy! Who will win it all this time???
Day 2 - Mixed teams - Make new friends and play with (mostly) new teammates!

TEAMS: Please form a team that includes at least 1 female player (this is a co-ed tournament). Teams should have a minimum of 8 players, not to exceed 12.

HOW MUCH: 12,000 yen (covers tournament costs, sports insurance in case you get hurt, lodging, all food costs, alcohol, yummy local snacks, hot springs pass for 2 days, 500 yen donation to Tohoku area recovery)
^OPTION^: Don't want to wake up early and make the driver over on the 13th? You can spend the night on the 12th at the same inn! +4300 yen to stay on the 12th (Friday), and will cover breakfast on the morning of the 13th (Saturday). If you don't want breakfast, it will be +3800 yen.

In short:
*12,000 yen for standard tournament entry (covers everything on both the 13th and 14th)
*16,300 yen for stay on the 12th w/ breakfast
*15,800 yen for stay on the 12th NO breakfast

**OBSERVER-ONLY package available at 10,500 yen instead of the standard 12,000.
For those who plan on staying over as well on the 12th, it will be 14,800 with breakfast, and 14,300 without.
NOTE: Please be sure to send a MESSAGE to Cameron Chien if you are opting for this package to avoid confusion with the rest of the participants. Thank you!

DEADLINE: September 26th, 2012. (Wednesday) Registration is on a first come, first serve basis, so if all 80 spots fill up early, registration may end earlier than September 26th. You can register by being on the Going/Attending list of this page AND you must also be on a team roster (which needs to be posted on this event page's wall) by September 26th. If you are not on a roster already, I will need to politely ask you guys to send me a private message for confirmation on that date. I will definitely make sure that everyone is on a team like in past tournaments. Thanks!

CANCELLATION: You are free to cancel at anytime prior to the deadline. After the deadline, there are cancellation costs and they are as follows:
By October 7th: 500 yen
By October 11th: 2000 yen
On October 12th and on: 10,000 yen

I am very much excited to find the love of Niigata people for basket ball! I am sure that they would welcome these events with much enthusiasm! We have well observed this in previous years! Keep updating the information regarding this!
